Neo is the founder and managing director of Urban Kraal Properties, a boutique property development company applying an innovative approach to property that balances investment returns with a focus on the social aspects that ensure long and sustainable tenant relationships. Through Urban Kraal, and the extensive networks established both within the public and private sectors, she has been involved in several commercial, residential and mixed-use developments with a project pipeline of approximately ZAR 300 million.
Neo began her career in property over a decade ago when she joined Investec Property Group, and decided to venture out on her own in 2010. Her vision was to build a business that would be one of the pioneers instrumental in facilitating the transformation of the property environment in South Africa. In addition, she had a desire to do things differently, by bringing a different value system to the industry. Neo has always had a burning desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives, and decided to combine her desire for making a difference, with her skill in property development. Neo quickly recognised that property development could de-segregate living and working spatial planning patterns and as a result, made it her purpose to use property development as a tool for reversing the inherited apartheid built environment within which South Africa finds itself today. And hopefully, make a lasting impact and meaningful change in the lives of everyday South Africans.
Her tenure at Investec afforded her the opportunity to gain exposure to all facets of the property spectrum, namely, property management, facilities management, project management, development management, investments, deal making and transaction structuring. Neo is a member of the Women’s Property Network and also serves on the board of Abraham Kriel Childcare Non-Profit Organisation.
